Chevrolet S10 and GMC Sonoma Truck Stripes

Chevrolet S10 and GMC Sonoma Racing Stripes – www.vinylstripes.com or www.rallystripes.com

The Chevrolet S10 and GMC Sonoma trucks are basically the same vehicle using two different brands.  The size and basic body are similar.  This car looks great with stripes.   The car in the picture below has 12 inch racing stripes and this is about as wide as you would want to go.  A 10 inch stripe kit would be a little more proportionate and an 8 inch stripe kit would be acceptable.  It really depends on the look you are going for.  A 30 foot kit is sufficient to cover the hood, roof and rear tailgate.  For a bed cover or for going down the bumpers you would want a 36 foot kit.   When you trim around areas like the tag or rear light you simply take an exacto and go around the area nice and slow.  You do not need to cut all the way through the vinyl.  There is no need to cut into your paint.  Just lightly go around and then pull off the excess vinyl.

The Chevrolet Cobalt is the replacement for the Cavalier and Prism.  The size and basic body are similar.  This car looks great with stripes just like the Cavalier did.  The car in the picture below has 10 inch racing stripes and this is about as wide as you would want to go.  An 8 inch stripe kit would be a little more proportionate and a 6 inch stripe kit would be acceptable.  It really depends on the look you are going for.  We do not have a precut kit for this car but buying a basic kit and trimming it to fit works well.  When you trim around areas like the tag or rear light you simply take an exacto and go around the area nice and slow.  You do not need to cut all the way through the vinyl.  There is no need to cut into your paint.  Just lightly go around and then pull off the excess vinyl.

1982 – 1992 Camaro Heritage Racing / Rally Stripes

1982 through 1992 Camaro Heritage Racing Stripes and Graphics – (available at www.vinylstripes.com or www.rallystripes.com)

The 1982 – 1992  Camaro is the third Generation Camaro.  This generation Camaro had some hoods that were plain with no scoops or obstructions and other hoods that had grills or small scoops.  Note – the Heritage Kit on the car above is for “plain hoods” with no grills or scoops.  Our Heritage is designed to favor the 91 – 92 Camaro stripe kit. It will fit any 1982 – 1992 Camaro with a plain hood. (no grills, scoops or blisters)

On hoods that are “plain” with no obstructions you can use pretty much any width stripe you want within reason. This would include 6″ stripes, 8″ stripes, 10″ stripes or 12″ stripes. (straight stripes)   We have found that the most popular widths are  8″ and 10″. People that want a main stripe and then pinstripes on the outside go with the 8″ plus pinstripes and people that want just the stripes with no pinstripes often go with the 10″.  We call these generic stripe kits because they fit almost all cars.  The kits come as a 30 or 36 foot roll of striping that you cut to fit the hood, roof and rear deck.  You can also get pinstripes that are applied after the main stripes.

On hoods where there are grills or scoops you will need to trim any kit you purchase from our sites.

1993 – 1997 Camaro Racing / Rally Stripe Kits

1993 1994 1995 1996 1997 Camaro Racing StripesThe 1993 – 1997  Camaro is the first phase of what is known as the Fourth Generation Camaro with the second phase being the 1998 – 2002 model. This model has the hood with the indentions in it which limit the type of stripes that can be used.  We have a specially designed precut kit that includes tapered stripes that fit into these indentions as well as 20 additional feet of 12″ striping that can be used for the roof and rear of the car.

On this model you can also use dual 6″ stripes and run them between the scoops down the center of the car.  Adding pinstripes to the two 6″ stripes would make them look wider if that is the effect you are wanting.  To apply dual straight stripes you would run a 1″ piece of masking tape front to back and then use that as a guide.  Our 6″ striping can be applied wet using a mild soapy water solution.  This makes installation much easier.  Pinstripes are generally installed dry.

The 1998 – 2002  Camaro is the second phase of what is known as the Fourth Generation Camaro with the first phase being the 1993 – 1997 model.  The hood on the 98-02 model lends itself to more types of striping in that with the exception of the S model, there are no obstructions to interfere with stripes. The Camaro at the top of this page has 10″ stripes and the Camaro below has 8″ stripes.

(Note – Our stripes consists of a self adhesive vinyl film and a peel off backing that is removed prior to application.)

Chevrolet Cavalier or Dodge Neon Racing Rally Stripes

Dodge Neon and Chevrolet Cavalier Racing Stripes – available at www.rallystripes.com or www.vinylstripes.com

The Chevrolet Cavalier and Dodge Neon  are both small 4 cylinder automobiles.  These two cars are popular among young drivers because of their inexpensive price and easy modification.  Racing stripes are common on both of these models.  The most popular size racing stripe would be an 8 inch kit with the 6 inch stripe kit being the second most popular size. The stripes on the Cavalier below are 8″ wide.

The Cavalier on this page uses a silver on silver theme.  This gives a very subtle look.

2008 – 2013 Dodge Challenger Racing Rally Stripes

In 2008 Dodge came out with their 3rd generation of Challenger.  An excellent retro of the original line of cars.  As with all Challengers the new model is well suited for Racing Stripes.  The car almost looks incomplete without them.  The hood, roof and rear of the car can accommodate up to a 10″ racing stripe set.  (dual 10″ stripes.)  I would recommend either a 10″ kit or an 8″ kit with pinstripes. Adding pinstripes makes the stripes look wider than they really are.

Using the simple cut to fit kits at www.vinylstripes.com or www.rallystripes.com is the least expensive way to stripe the Challenger.  Simply run masking tape front to back to mark the center and then begin installing your sections.

Dodge Challenger Tapered Racing Stripes

Of all the retro muscle cars on the market today, the 2008 – 2021 Dodge Challenger does the best job of capturing the esscense of the original. If you compare the early 70’s models to todays Challenger, you will immediately see the similarities. Dodge has done a fantastic job of modernizing a classic with all the latest bells, whistles, and powertrains.

Because these cars are so incredibly popular, owners are always looking for ways to make theirs unique. One way of really dressing up a car like the Challenger is with racing stripes and decals. We have designed two tapered racing kits for the 2008 through 2021 Dodge Challenger that are both simple and affordable. Each kit comes with two tapered hood stripes, and 20 feet of 10 inch striping for the rest of the car. The kits fit the Challenger with the hood in the picture above.

Cut from either 3m Series 50 or Oracal 651 Vinyl, our tapered Dodge Challenger racing stripe kit comes in a variety of colors and consists of two precut tapered front stripes, and 20 feet of 10 inch wide striping for the remainder of the car. The stripes are simple to install using a premixed spray bottle of soapy water, a pair of scissors or exacto, and a squeegee. As always, always start with a clean car and install the stripes out of direct sun and wind. A garage is optimal.

When installing, I always run a piece of masking tape on the car front to back as a guideline. This assures that the stripes go on nice and straight. I always install the tapered hood stripes first by peeling off the paper backing, spraying the adhesive side of the stripe, and spraying the car. (Note – Do not get the stripes wet with the paper on them) I then slide the stripes into place one at a time, and squeegee them on. A tip is to keep the top of the stripes wet while squeegeeing to avoid scratching them. Also, covering the squeegee with a soft cloth will protect them from scratches. After applying the hood stripes, cut what you need for the hood and rear deck areas from the 20 foot roll of 10 inch striping. Apply these pieces using the soapy water method and then trim the stripes at the ends. Keep striping that you are not using in a dry area to protect it.

The pictures below show what you get in our tapered striped kits.

The Dodge Charger has been through several generations.  The 2006 to present model is the sixth generation of this car.  This car looks great with stripes and can hold almost any width within reason.  The car in the picture below has 10 inch racing stripes .  A 12 inch racing stripe kit would also look good but this is about as wide as you would want to go.  An 8 inch stripe kit with pinstripes would be very proportionate and a 6 inch stripe kit would be a little on the narrow side but acceptable.  It really depends on the look you are going for.  We do not sell a precut kit for the Charger but buying a basic cut to fit kit and trimming it to fit works well.  To trim around areas like the tag or rear light you simply take an exacto and go around the area nice and slow.  You do not need to cut all the way through the vinyl.  There is no need to cut into your paint.  Just lightly go around and then pull off the excess vinyl.  A 30 foot kit is fine for striping the hood, roof and rear deck and a 36 foot kit is what you need to go down the bumpers.

Mazda Miata 6″ and 8″ Racing Stripes

The Mazda Miata is a very popular car to stripe.  A striped Miata bears a slight resemblance to a Shelby Cobra. Cobra owners will not appreciate this but it is true.

The most popular size stripe for the Miata is an 8″ stripe but a 6″ stripe kit is also popular.  Pinstripes can be added to increase the width.  Because the car is not long, a 30 foot kit is normally all you need to go down both bumpers.

Lastly, some owners prefer a single 12″ stripe with pinstripes.
